I love Asian cuisine. The dishes have a distinct and unique flavorful taste that keeps you coming back for more. We got to try this new restaurant at Level 1 in the Shangri-la Mall, right across Mercury Drug (near the mall’s entrance). It’s called Lemongrass Asian Bistro. Its ambiance was very refreshing. It was probably because of the white and green colors that were carried throughout all the restaurant’s paraphernalia, from the placemats to the walls and chairs. We then looked through the menu, which was composed of various Asian Dishes.

I was craving for something sour so we ordered the Thai Shrimp paste rice with pork and green mango (good for 2) at Php 230. It was the typical rice dish with origins from Thailand. It contained pork, egg, nuts, onions, green mango and chili. It was okay, but I wished the pork was a little bit more flavorful. Sometimes, the flavor rises over the rice but oftentimes, the flavor is drowned out by the rice. You have to mix the dish well to fully appreciate the dish. The rice was good for 2 people (3 at the most).

Lemongrass Kung Pao Chicken

Kung Pao Chicken with green red peppers and nuts at Php 295. This complemented the rice that we ordered. It was okay for me. They could have made it spicier though, since people really expect the dish to be hot and spicy.
Lemongrass Minced Tofu

My favorite was the Minced Tofu with Shitake Mushrooms, carrots and water chestnuts at Php 350. The tofu had the perfect tenderness to it. It was not too soft nor too firm. The sauce was just delightful. I love the different textures that played in my mouth after each bite. The carrots gave that crunch in the sauce, the chestnuts gave that nutty flavor and the mushroom gave that chewiness. I would order this dish again.

There were other dishes that I wanted to try, but since it was just me and EJ, the rice and the two viands were just enough to fill us up. My only concern is that the dishes and meals were quite expensive. I hope that they adjust the prices to make it more reasonable.

For those who want a relaxing meal with friends and family in the mall after shopping, with no budget in mind, you can try out Lemongrass Asian Bistro.
