Savor Filipino Cuisine, Rockwell Business Center Ginger Arboleda March 28, 2011 Featured, Food & Dining 3 Comments Just before my sister, Manila Shopaholic girl, left for France on a 3 month business trip, our family treated her out. We chose Savor Filipino Cuisine since we heard that they had great Filipino food. I’m sure she’ll be missing all of these great dishes for the coming months. We definitely made the right choice! This Filipino restaurant in the relatively new Rockwell Business Center in Ortigas (beside Medical City) served food that was appetizing, memorable and probably “home sickness enducing” dishes. For starters, we tried the Five Star (Php 155). The Five Star was made out of five ingredients: Laguna Cheese, Smoked Sardines, Cheddar, Minced meat and Shrimp stuffing. These 5 ingredients were placed in two different kinds of wonton triangles. This appetizer was a joy! It was quite unique. We were all scrambling to get the last piece of this dish. Five Star (Php 155) We also ordered the Krispy Chicken Skin (Php 169), but I didn’t get to take pictures because it was all gone before I remembered taking out the camera. Munggo Sabaw Sosyal (Php 169) I love munggo soup. I remember that when I was little, my lola would always have this dish served in her house. I would get ladle-full of soup and mix it with rice. I was excited because for our soup, we ordered the Munggo Sabaw Sosyal (Php 169). The munggo soup was mixed with Chorizo bits, sill leaves and served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The chorizo was a good twist. Normally, the munggo soup that I have been exposed to had no meat in it or had shrimp mixed into it. The chorizo was a good choice of an add on to the soup. For those expecting think sauce, this munggo dish came with a thinner sauce. Boneless Chicken Inasal (Php 239) My mom’s family is from Bacolod so for our Chicken dish, guess what we ordered? We ordered the Boneless Chicken Inasal (Php 239). The chicken’s meat was cooked well; it was juicy and not dry. It was served with Sinamak and Atchara. The taste was close to the Chicken Inasal that they serve in Bacolod. Crab and Shrimp Relleno (Php 299) For seafood lovers, do order the Crab and Shrimp Relleno (Php 299). These looked like crab cakes with shrimp mixed into it. It was served with Calamansi Hollandaise sauce. I also loved the bed of crispy string potatoes. I was busily munching on them while exchanging stories with my family. Tapang Baka (Php 239) Among all the dishes, my favorite was the Tapang Baka (Php 239). It was a plateful of shredded tapa. This dish is perfect when dipped in vinegar and eaten with steamed rice! Shrimp and Pork Tortang Talong (Php 179) For veggies, we ordered the Shrimp and Pork Tortang Talong (Php 179). It was mixed with a lot of shrimp and pork, which made it more appetizing and filling. I can’t wait for my sister to come back. I’m sure she’ll be craving for Filipino dishes, and so, we’ll definitely go back to Savor Filipino Cuisine and try out the other dishes that they have. Not much people know about this place yet, since this restaurant’s new. Try it out and let us know what you think about the dishes that they serve.
