H Cuisine: Angus Beef Belly and More!

I was first introduced to Chef Hannah Herrera-Bagatsing’s Awesome Angus Beef Belly during my duty manning our booth at the Cuenca Bazaar. My in-laws were raving about it and I thought why not give it a try. It turns out for the rest of the days that I was at the bazaar, I had this for lunch every single day. so, when we had my mom-in-laws’ family dinner for her birthday in H Cuisine, I was so excited to have the Most Awesome Angus Beef Belly again. Sure enough, it did not disappoint!

H Cuisine is actually a quaint little place in Scout Rallos St. corner Tomas Morato. Upon entering the restaurant, you will get that country vibe feel of the place. The walls are painted with yellow and the accent walls in the counter are colored blue. The other decors were also colored blue. The table had a little cute centerpiece of red roses (although daises or tulips would have been better).

Anyway, EJ and I got there before anyone else. We had just come from a wedding ceremony. We were starving so we took the liberty of ordering appetizer first. I was in the mood for something … anything with cheese. I looked through the menu and I decided to get the Loaded Taco Salad (Php 188).

The salad was good. The sauce was perfect for the different ingredients that they mixed to make the Taco Salad. They didn’t scrimp on the ingredients and it was a perfect start for what we were about to have.

Oh, by the way, we ordered the fresh dalandan juice (Php 88). It had slices of dalandan dropped inside. It was so cold and refreshing. It was the perfect drink for a hot day.

For our main course, we ordered three dishes. The first one was (yes, you guessed it right!) the Most Awesome Angus Beef Belly (Single order – Php 288 and Sharing for 2-3 pax – Php 428). It was served in a ceramic plate that was placed over a steel stand with a candle underneath. This set up kept the Angus Beef Belly warm.

I loved this dish, and the way it was cooked was perfect. I loved that the skin was crispy and the beef was so tender.

The gravy was even more flavor enhancing. It was the perfect compliment to this great tasting dish.

This dish is something that you would crave for. It would be something that would pull you back into H Cuisine. It will be worth your trip to Tomas Morato.

The other dish that we tried was the Clams in Garlic Infused EVOO Linguine pasta (Php 218). It had that strong and memorable flavor. The pasta was cooked al dente. I loved that it had a lot of clams mixed into the dish. I loved that the flavors were strong and very appetizing.

For non-meat lovers, we suggest that you order the Teriyaki Glazed Milkfish Belly (Php 198). The fish was cooked perfectly. It was fresh and meaty. The sauce though may have been too overpowering, though delicious. It seems as if this restaurant really does not scrimp even with the sauce, but for this dish, I could have been better if the fish became the hero instead of the sauce. But, overall, it was a wonderful experience.

I would go back there with my friends and family. Try their dishes and have a memorable time!
