Love it and i’m coming back for more! I know this sounds like an exaggeration but I really do love this new Thai Restaurant in Trinoma. We saw this being built, and we wondered if it would be delicious. When it was open to the public, we heard otherwise, so we decided not to eat there a couple of times. One night, however, we just entered and ordered. It was a huge mistake to listen to rumors since this restaurant serves great tasting dishes! This Thai restaurant is Mango Tree Bistro.

When we entered the place, the waiter lead us to our seats. The place was a bit dark (thought it was a bar!), but the seats were comfy. The lights were nice, especially if you want pictures of yourself looking thin. Light is not directly hitting your face. But that’s another story!

Anyway, since it was our first time, we asked the waiter for his recommendation. He recommended two dishes, and both were fish dishes. I was surprised since not a lot of restaurants recommend fish dishes to be their specialty.

The waiter recommended the Pla Krapong Neung Ma Now (Php 650) and the Pla Krapon Bistro (Php 600). The latter was deep fried sea bass fillet with mango salad. We ordered that Pla Krapong Neung Ma Now, which was steamed whole sea bass with lemon garlic and fresh chili sauce.

After ordering the fish, 15 minutes after, the waiter brought a stand with a little candle inside it. Then he brought as huge dish with the whole steamed sea bass floating in a sea of sauce. the sauce tasted like Tom Yam Goong. It was delicious. This for me is one of the best dishes I have tried so far. I wouldn’t mind paying that amount to eat this dish again. The chili sauce was also a perfect compliment to the fresh fish. Refreshing is the best word to describe this dish! It was just EJ and I sharing this dish, but we got to finish the entire fish by ourselves.

We also ordered the Phad Thai Goong (Php 350). This is stir fried rice noodle with prawns in Phad Thai sauce. The Phad Thai had well cooked noodles. The bean sprouts were crunchy. The nuts were well chopped. The different sauces enhanced the flavor of the Phad Thai Goong (although EJ liked his plain — without the sauce). There were a lot of shrimps served with the dish. It was a filling and a delicious dish. Again, I would order this when I do come back.

We were full, but the dessert looked irresistible. We ordered a hot and a cold dessert. I remember ordering both desserts during my trips to Thailand. The hot dessert was Sakoo Nam Ka-ti (Php 100).

This is sago in sweet coconut milk. This was too heavy for me though. I liked the cold dessert better. We ordered the Tub Tim Grub (Php 150).

This is made up of red ruby chestnut in cocomut milk and ice cubes. I love the red ruby chestnut, because it has that unique texture — quite like jelly but it has that crunch to it when bitten.

I’m excited to try this restaurant again. I had a pleasant time and the food was great. I have never been this pleased and excited about a fish dish before. Kuddos to Mango Tree Bistro in Trinoma, Quezon city, for making me love fish and veggies (in the form of Phad Thai Goong) again!
