Beyond Manila

This was one of the best vacations that we had as a couple. We bought a coupon from Dealgrocer.com. The coupon was for an overnight stay at the Palmera Suites in the Farm at San Benito. We left Manila at around 8:30 am. From Quezon City, it took us 3 hours to get to the Farm on a Saturday morning.

When travelling north, we normally stop and eat breakfast or lunch in any of the stopovers / gasoline stations in North Luzon Expressway (NLEX). For those who want a list of the stopovers when travelling north, read on!

Our last day in Vietnam was still quite packed. Our flight to Manila was at 1:00 am the next day so we had the whole day to shop, dine and tour the rest of the city!

Our second day at Vietnam was spent by taking the Mekong River Tour. Some friends and a few locals actually discouraged us from taking this tour -- like taking a tour of Pasig River according to them. I disagree though since we had fun and got a glimpse of provincial life in Vietnam (at least the idealized version of provincial life).

Yes, we were gone for four days and three nights, and we went to Vietnam. It was our first time there and we totally did not know where to go and what to do. We eventually discovered things that are fun to do, so here is our recommended itinerary.

When in Subic, one of the places that you have to go to to have lunch or dinner (or maybe even a hearty breakfast) is Meat Plus. Oftentimes, when we travel to Subic, we get to pass by this restaurant, but we never did get the chance to eat there.

I’m sure for people who have been to Clark, most of you know of the restaurants near the vicinity of the Stotsenberg Parade Grounds. These restaurants are actually old houses during the time when Clark was still a US military base camp. Well, one of these restaurants is Café Mesa.

I’ve always taken Clark for granted. It’s probably because in my mind, I have associated it with client calls that I have to do for my day job. This past weekend was when I have opened my eyes to see that Clark can actually be a good place to use for promoting tourism for the Philippines. It was a nice place to visit, not just for work, but for entertainment, relaxation, physical activities and for good food!
