It’s a translucent, gelatin-like chewy candy shaped like a bear that comes in different colors. Kids—and adults alike—like eating gummy bears. Even some pharmaceutical companies used gummy bears as their form of multivitamins for kids since kids do not like the look and taste of the usual multivitamins. But…have you seen a giant gummy bear? Yes I did, when I watched the movie, “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” haha. The giant gummy bear is equivalent to 350 pieces of regular sized gummy bears. The owner, Joe Ren Mendoza, said that he considers this as a hobby more than a business. It closely follows the recipe of the international gummy bear maker Haribo Brand. The owner spent a lot of time perfecting the recipe to adapt to the Philippines’ tropical climate. Current flavors that they offer are lemon, blueberry, strawberry, melon, raspberry, green apple, cola, and rum. The giant gummy bears are made-to-order. Giant gummy bears are only made once the order is confirmed to make sure that the customer will get a freshly made gummy bear every time. The customer can expect to receive their giant gummy bear in 2-3 days. Customers can also request for customization of their gummy bears, from change of color to variation in flavorings. Sometimes, they do allow the addition of Ascorbic Acid to make their gummy bears a little bit sour, and at the same time, it’s a good source of Vitamin C. BearyGummy has already been featured in Unang Hirit and has now supported a few causes from schools such as Philippine Christian University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, and San Beda College. Apart from supporting schools, BearyGummy had also supported Junior Marketing Achievement Society of the Philippines and the recently concluded Work-At-Home Expo 2015 held at Bayanihan Center, Mandaluyong City. BearyGummy ingredients are sourced from an established local food supplier in the Philippines and some of the flavorings came from the United States. The molds used to create gummy bears are food-grade silicone rubber. Except for a few cases, the packaging used for the gummy bears are sustainable materials.
