To mark this year’s “National ICT Month” the Information and Communications Technology Office of the DOST, together with the National Council on Disability Affairs, Centrex and SM Supermalls as well as various partners in government, private sector and people’s organizations, will hold for the third year in a row “ICT: an ICT Job and Skills Fair for PWDs”, on June 19, 2014 at the Cyberzone, SM North EDSA Annex. This year’s event will be focusing on the utilization of ICTs allowing PWDs to work from anywhere.

With today’s current adaptive technologies and enabling laws Persons with disabilities (PWDs) are emerging as an integral part of our productive ICT workforce. Despite the hindrances that usually come with being a PWD, the talented Filipino manages to shine through, PWDs have excelled in jobs from IT business process outsourcing to programming and systems design to ICT enabled creative industries such as animation, desktop publishing and web design.

Without a doubt the field ICT has the potential to become the most PWD friendly industries, and with ever improving PWD
enabling technologies becoming readily available. Being PWD is much less of an impediment to having a productive career.
