I think one of the type of cuisine Filipinos love other than their own, of course, is Chinese Food. There are a lot of Chinese restaurants in the city, especially in places like Binondo and San Juan. If you are in the Ortigas area, Robinson’s Galleria just opened up its new wing, the Veranda, and one of the restaurants there is Eat Well’s Delicious Kitchen, which serves Chinese cuisine.

The interiors of this restaurant had a refreshing green theme. It was different from the other Chinese restaurants that I’ve been to before. Most of the other restaurants have a “red theme”. Delicious Kitchen though had that whole relaxing and comforting theme.

My officemates and I went to eat there for lunch. We ordered main dishes right away since we were in a hurry. For the main dishes, we ordered the Fried Squid with Spicy Salt (Php 255).

For some reason, it wasn’t as salty, pepper-y or spicy as expected. The nice thing about it was the squid was meaty, and when you bite into it, there was less extenders if you compare it to other Chinese restaurants. For me though, this dish lacked a little more flavor.

We also ordered the Delicious Kitchen Eat Well Crispy Chicken (Php 265).

This was my favorite among all the dishes that we ordered. The chicken had the perfect “crisp” to its skin. The meat was steaming hot and cooked to perfection. The meat was also very juicy. I would come back for the chicken.

We ordered one of the pretty popular dishes, which was Hot Prawns Vegetable Salad (Php 350).

It’s a popular dish probably because a lot of Filipinos love anything sweet. This prawn salad was a little sweet and it had just the right amount of cream in it. The sauce did not drown out the taste of the prawns. The “prawns” were huge shrimps that were substantial and larger than expected.

We also ordered the Eggplant with Minced Pork and Salted Fish Hotpot (Php 215).

For those who are looking for vegetables, this dish is a good choice. The dish had a lot of vegetables, meat and fish in it. It was worth the price. It was a little salty (because of the salted fish), but they placed just the right amount of salt.

Together with our meals, we ordered Salted Fish and Chicken Fried Rice (Php 205) and Shrimp Fried Rice (Php 215).

Overall, the dishes seemed to have a different set of ingredients as compared to competitors. Why do I say this? For some weird, but good reason, we did not feel bloated or sleepy after the meal. Normally, after eating Chinese cuisine, we’d get a little sleepy and bloated (probably because of salt or other ingredients), but for Delicious Kitchen by Eat Well, it felt like we had a good meal and a healthy one.
