Dr. Tam’s Vegan House at Metrowalk Ginger Arboleda May 26, 2010 Food & Dining We have received a lot of requests for vegetarian restaurant reviews. It seems a lot of people are thinking of going vegan or if not, are thinking of eating healthier food (which is good!). My office is located across Metrowalk and everyday, I see this restaurant that may be of interest to you. Dr. Tam’s Vegan House is located at the second floor of Metrowalk. The restaurant, with a cream and gree motif, is quite huge. There was a table on the right, where they were selling vegetarian products and snacks. Dr. Tams Vegan House Going through the menu, the Vegan House offers typical Filipino dishes like mechado, bopis, kare kare and many more but all cooked with vegetables or veggie meat or glutein (both are made of soybeans and serve as a replacement for pork, beef and chicken). The dishes were all served with organic vegetables and no MSG or artificial seasonings. They also have desserts available with no dairy products used. All ingredients used are organic flour. We bought breaded snacks while waiting for our orders. It looked like “shing-a-lings” but it was made of baked organic flour. It tasted like breadsticks. This would be a good alternative to chips! I ordered Mechado. It was so tasty! You would not expect that everthing that you were eating was vegetables. Dr. Tams Vegan House Mechado We also ordered the Kare Kare. My husband was a Kare Kare lover and he really liked this dish! It had so much vegetables and veggie meat in it that it was worth every penny. Dr. Tams Vegan House Kare Kare I didn’t like the bagoong so much though. I probably want it saltier, which is of course, bad for your health! But it really looks like bagoong as we know it. You have to put a lot for it to taste. Dr. Tams Bagoong A good thing is that each order is really filling. Each of our orders can actually be consumed by three people. You can order brown rice or red rice to go with the dishes. Do try to visit Dr. Tam’s Vegan House for a healthy and satisfying veggie meal! ***Dr. Tam, a registered Respiratory Therapist at North Hollywood Medical and Dental School, California, USA furthered his medical education at the Clayton College of Natural Healing (formerly Alabama College of Natural Healing) in Alabama, USA, becoming the Philippines first Naturopathic Doctor.
