Having a baby in your household means having to change some aspects of your life. In our case, we need to eliminate eating junk food. We have a container in our room where we keep all the chips, nuts and biscuits. We usually dig into it before dinner or after dinner as we need to get our daily fix of munchies!

But, of course, having Baby Z in the house and seeing her grow up so fast, we are planning to change some of the things that we normally do. One of these things that we plan to do is eat ‘all ‘ healthy stuff. We want her to eat healthy; we want her to crave carrot sticks and not junk food. We want her to see us and follow us. We need to set a good example for Baby Z.

But quitting munching on chips is hard to do. With this, I’m looking for healthier alternatives like baked chips, air popped popcorn, etc. I came across this new snack called California Crunch Cassava Chips.

Can I have some, Mommy?

California Crunch is made from cassava (yuca or kamoteng kahoy in Filipino). Cassava is a good source of Vitamin B3, which helps lower cholesterol. It also has more fiber than potatoes. For these particular chips, I say it is healthier since it contains zero grams of trans fat and is cholesterol free. It also has 30% less fat than the leading American potato chips brand.

It comes in two flavors.

I’m a fan of sour cream and onions (I think most women are) and I’d prefer it over other flavors, BUT in this particular scenario, I like the Barbeque flavor more. It was actually quite spicy, which was something that I liked. Both are delicious and very flavorful, but one is cool and tangy and the other one is hot and spicy.

I also love the packaging design. It looked very classy and very straight forward.

If you want to try California Crunch Cassava Chips, these are available at Mercury Drug Stores, SM Supermarkets, SM Hyper Markets, Gourdo’s, Unimart, Subic Royal Duty Free, and Super 8 branches. A 120 gram pack is at around Php 45.
