It’s been a while since I have seen my barkada. All of us are bankers and we all met in the bank I currently work for. All of them though, have moved on to other companies (huhuhu!). We see to it though that we get together at least once a quarter. So recently, we met and had lunch at Singapore Food Republic at the Bonifacio Global City. This restaurant is near Dell’s and Eat Well.
They wanted to eat at Shi Lin, but I begged them to try something else since I had Shi Lin for two days that week already. Singapore Food Republic was actually a good alternative. I love Hainanese Chicken, and was so happy to see it on the menu. So with that… viola!
Their Hainanese Chicken was priced at Php 418 for half a chicken. This includes two orders of chicken rice already. The meat was well cooked and the chicken was not bloody. As usual, I got to empty out the ‘ginger in oil’ condiment.
Before that though, we ordered the Roti Prana (South Indian Flatbread) at Php 118. It was okay, but I like the Cheese Naan at New Bombay better. I liked that their Roti Prana was not that oily.
Among all of the things that we ordered though, I loved the Sizzling Tofu with Minced Pork Sauce at Php 299 and the Hot and Sour Soup at Php 260 (good for 3-4 people). I think the Hot and Sour Soup was cooked perfectly. The tofu was also tender… it was not under cooked. The mince pork mixed into it was substantial.
The weirdest dish of them all was the Cereal/Oatmeal Butter Prawns (Php 485) that we ordered. It was a dish that had 5-6 huge prawns which was smothered on the outside with butter then rolled over cereal/oatmeal. The funny thing is that I was not sure if we were supposed to mix the oatmeal/cereal again with the prawns after we took out the skin (I needed to be educate on how to eat this! :) hehe!). But aside from that, the dish was perfectly fine.
We enjoyed our meal at Singapore Food Republic. I might drop by again if I do get to pass by this area. Oh, by the way, this is also under Nasi Lemak (which I also love!).
