RISQ Interview with Mikee Andrei

Mikee Andrei, 27 years old, is our next interviewee for the RISQ Grand Summer Fashion Show. He is representing the Fashion Institute of the Philippines (FIP) Makati , and has been designing since since 4+ years ago. He took formal lessons at the Fashion Institute of the Philippines Makati since last year, and he’s about to graduate this year.

Before taking up formal fashion design courses, he was already designing for weddings and for friends. He describes that seeing a woman walk down the aisle with your design is such a unique and indescribable feeling. It has served as his inspiration — to make others happy with the design that he makes.

For the RISQ fashion show, he mentioned that this is the first fashion competition that he has ever joined. What people can expect from him are functional and creative designs. He thought about making a functional line, because of one experience that he had.

Travelling light has been a challenge for him. His friends teased him and challenged him to pack light when they went to a beach resort. He failed, but succeeded in thinking of a concept for this line!

His theme for his fashion line concentrates on making “convenient and functional and of course, fashionable” clothes, which is inspired by the beach. He showed us a mood board, and mentioned that he drew his inspiration from waves and the sand. The color scheme that he will be using will be colors associated with sunset.

In the future, he would want to create his own line for women. He loves dressing up women — seeing them look beautiful and happy after wearing his design is enough recognition for him!
