We were about to watch Robin Hood when we saw the family in front of us, pull out a box of ‘something’. When they held it, it looked like a mini burger – mini as in smaller than the size of your palm. In fact, they were holding it with their pointer fingers and thumbs. After the movie, we went around Eastwood’s Gourmet Market and we found what that mini burger was — Mini Kebab burgers from Canape’s Chef.

A canapé (Spanish/French for couch and known in Italy as tartina) is a small, prepared and usually decorative food, held in the fingers and often eaten in one bite. Canape’s Chef offers a lot of hot canapes, cold canapes and petit fours. There were a lot of variants so we ordered a box of 6 pieces at Php 175.
We tried the following canapes: Mini Kebab Beef Burgers, Chicken Alfredo, Beef and Mushroom, Mini Ham and Cheese Quiche, Spinach Quiche, Broccoli, Spinach and Artichoke.

We loved the Spinach and Artichoke and the Broccoli canape. The Spinach and Artichoke canape would be perfect for cocktails. It had a strong cheesy flavor, but regardless of this, the flavors of the spinach and the artichoke were still evident. The Broccoli canape was equally delicious. Even my husband who is a self proclaimed carnivore craved for these vegetarian variants. Their canapes are really mouth-watering and it will keep you asking for more.
As for the Mini Kebab Beef Burger canape, the pita bread and the mini patty was cooked just right. Even if it’s that small, it was very flavorful and deliciously spicy. I loved the yogurt dip that came with it. It would be a great hors d’ouvre and would definitely be a great conversation piece.
