Omakase: Japanese Sushi and Maki at its Finest

I won’t argue at all when one tells me that Omakase is the place to have good sushi and maki. I used to argue with my friend, Jeff. I have to tell you, the first time I visited the place, I didn’t like it as much. I think I ordered the wrong dishes. A friend then told me that I should have ordered the maki and sushi at Omakase. Okay, so just to give it another shot, my husband an I went to visit this Japanese restaurant again after coming from work.

We were greeted by the staff and we sat on a table that was actually cut and made for four people. The place had a few more guests inside, but it was not really jam packed. I love the ambiance since it was a cozy and quiet place to enjoy dinner with family. You can see the cooks prepare your dishes.

The menu was cute! Check out this one pager greeting…

For our appetizers, we had the spicy tuna salad. I love spicy tuna salads and I always order it when I visit Japanese restaurants here in the Philippines. I liked their spicy tuna salad, but I wished they lessen the tempura breaded crumbs that they mix with it.

We ordered the American Dream. It was deep fried sushi with salmon, kani and cream cheese. We also ordered the Jurassic Maki. It had ebi tempura, kani, ebiko, salmon skin, cucumber and unagi on top. I liked both but the American was delicious for me. I adore cream cheese, so this dish was my favorite.

Since both of us love chicken, we ordered the Tori Karaage. It had a wonderful sauce that you will crave for. The chicken was perfectly cooked — crunchy on the outside and hot and juicy on the inside. The dish was served with fries which were thickly cut potatoes.

I will definitely order this dish again!

I guess Omakase has great dishes. If you visit this restaurant, do not fail to order any maki or sushi variant. The Japanese dishes that we tried this time around were pretty amazing!
