For our accomodations, we were just lucky that EJ’s lola lives in Dumaguete that we didn’t have to look for a place to stay. But of course, we tried to scout for good places to stay in Dumaguete for tourists and visitors. There are a lot of rooms and even houses for rent. All you have to do is go around the town proper and you will see all these places. Our favorite though is Bethel Guest House. They call it the “Convention Hotel in Dumaguete”. It is located along the Rizal Boulevard, a very good location, since when you just want to eat, all you need to do is go out of Bethel and you’ll see all these restaurants. Accommodations are very reasonable, the service is good and the building is very clean.

The have hot and cold showers, cable TV, centralized airconditioning, PABX Telephone system, 250KW Standby generator, Wifi internet service, a Business Center and Purified drinking water.

The favorite area of EJ’s family is the Fastfood and Coffee Shop, called Cafe Filomena, located at the ground floor. It is a clean, cafeteria like restaurant where you get to choose the food that you want to order and bring it to your table. Prices are reasonable. Meals are around 100 pesos (80 for the viand and around 20 for the rice) and deserts are at 35 pesos. They also serve fresh fruits like mango, banana, jack fruit or langka, etc.


My husband loves that halo-halo. They serve Regular halo – halo at Php 50, Special Halo-halo at Php 60 and Bethel Halo-halo special at Php 70.

The check out time in the hotel is at 12:00 noon. Smoking and drinking is not allowed in the hotel. If you want to get around town, there are a lot of pedicabs that you can hail or you can rent vans around the area that would take you around.
