RISQ: The Grand Summer Fashion Show Go-see

There is no such thing as too early for summer! Some of you may think that it’s too early to talk about summer, but this event is too good to be true. The excitement in the air about this big, Victoria’s Secret like fashion show started with the recently concluded go-see. This go-see was not for an ordinary fashion show. It was for RISQ: The Grand Summer Fashion Show, and this will be THE fashion event to go to in 2011.

If you want to take a check how big of an event this will be, the best people to talk to would be the event organizers themselves. We were fortunate enough to have met the people behind Indios Bravos Multimedia and Ideal Events International. These two companies joint forces to hold this grand event (gala fashion show) to launch 10 new swimwear and lingerie designer brands on March 4th 2011 at the World Trade Center Manila.

This two-hour risqué but sophisticated fashion show shall feature around 110 summer and intimate wear pieces, created by ten newly-discovered and most promising new designers from esteemed fashion design schools. It will be a lingerie and swimwear design competition. These upcoming designers will be working closely with top fashion industry professionals–from stylists, photographers, event managers, choreographers, journalists, to business consultants, to bring their vision to life. The groundbreaking and innovative creations will be showcased in front of a live audience and a panel of judges.

RISQ was an idea that was conceptualized by two young entrepreneurs, who are both prominent figures in the fashion industry. Ms. Kristine Soguilon is a fashion photographer and is the President and CEO of Indios Bravos Multimedia. She is also the recipient of the 2010 Go Negosyo Inspiring Young Filipino Entrepreneur Award. Ms. Cristina Tanseco-Guerrero is the founder and Managing Director of Ideal Events International, who have done a lot of fashion and corporate events in the past.

When asked about what makes RISQ different from any other fashion events out there, their answer impressed me. Their dream was to come up with an event that would feature new talents in the Philippine Fashion industry. We met core group of the event who were helping Kristine and Cristina, namely Richmond Rondolo (stylist/consultant), Riel Balan (Choreographer from the Manoeuvres), Christian Marco (Choreographer from Hotlegs), Jester Jeff De Veyra (Chief of Division at Fortres), Carlo Ma. Guerrero (Business Development Director of Ideal Models International) and Joseph Matheu (Lighting Director, Eat Bulaga and Trumpets Playshop), and they all had the same sentiments.

The RISQ Power Team

The RISQ Power Team

Come to think of it, we have a country filled with amazing young talented individuals who can design great pieces, and they don’t get to exhibit their talent, because no opportunity is presented. RISQ is that opportunity. The winning designer will receive a cash prize of One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Pesos (P150,000) a fashion business start-up portfolio, features in a major broadsheet and a fashion magazine, along with other exciting prizes.

It’s calling these young designers to take a risk and be the best that they can be. And not only that, the models are also new models, with minimal experience. One of the goals of RISQ is to train and give chances to these young aspiring models!

Everyone’s excited about it — especially because the director of the show will be one of the country’s favorite show directors, Floy Quintos. As mentioned by Ms. Kristine and Cristina, they were so elated when Direk Floy Quintos agreed to direct RISQ.

RISQ also aims to give back to society. Some of the proceeds from RISQ will go to the Rotary San Nicolas Street Children’s Foundation.

This will be a grand summer event that you and your friends can attend. We will closely monitor and give you updates on RISQ.

We did an interview with the power team, and we will share it with you in December. Tell your friends about this grand event. It’s the event of the year that should not be missed!
