It has been months now since I’ve dropped my habit of drinking coffee. After my miscarriage, I’ve cut down on my habit of gulping down 4-6 cups of coffee a day. The problem now is that I haven’t been drinking quite as much liquids. So it’s definitely good that I discovered a new drink that has taken the place of the coffee I used to crave for. I have discovered a delicious drink called Bubble Tea, when I visited one of their stores in Tomas Morato.
Bubble Tea was a concept that was created by Mr. Reagan Tan, the CEO of Bubble Tea. He fell in love with the drink (just like I how I did) when he was in Canada. In Canada, their hang out places were not coffee shops, but Bubble Tea places. He then had a bright idea of bringing Bubble Tea here, but a lot of people advised him not to bring it since they compared the concept to “pearl shakes”, which have grown popular in the 1990′s. They had the perception that this was a dying concept, but Reagan believed that the concept of having Premium Fresh Milk will make this idea stand out. He believed in the product and he knew that there was no competition in the market.
Thanks to the passion & persistence of the owner, I am now thoroughly enjoying this cup of Royal Milk Tea. The taste of this drink is quite unique and addicting. You can have it hot (Php 80) or Cold (Medium – Php 115 or Large – Php 125). I recommend that you take it cold and add bubbles (sago) and the egg pudding. As you may all know by now, I am a big fan of drinks or food with a lot of texture. I love the smoothness of the egg pudding and firmness of the bubbles. This drink, I learned, was a favorite of a lot of their customers!
Of course, there are a lot of other drinks in Bubble Tea. You can choose from a wide variety of Milk Tea and Milk shakes, Green Tea and Black Tea, Teas Slushes (for the lactose intolerant), etc. My husband’s favorite is the Honey Dew Melon Milk Shake with Fresh Mango Bits (Medium – Php 135 and Large – Php 145). If you haven’t tried this drink, you are missing a lot.
All these drinks are great to have while having a good conversation or lots of laughs with friends and family.
Bubble Tea also offers delicious Japanese fusion dishes, traditional Japanese dishes & street food and some western dishes prepared the “Japanese Way”.
My favorite and my very own comfort food is the Japanese Chicken Caesar Salad (Php 195). Salad has never been this tasty for me. The secret to good salad is to keep the vegetables fresh and Bubble Tea was successful in doing that. The chicken was a little bit crispy on the outside and very tender on the inside. This style of cooking was perfect for chicken to be topped on a salad. But what I loved most about the salad is the sauce. It was a light sesame sauce that was mildly tangy and slightly creamy.
The other favorites of my husband, family and friends are the following Japanese fusion dishes.
Takoyaki Balls: The grilled octopus was enclosed in a soft batter, which all melts in your mouth (Php 175). This is a good Japanese dish to order while waiting for your main dish.
Okonomiyaki Pizza: This is batter wrapped around meat and vegetables (Php 215). The ingredients were so filling and quite substantially spread out through the entire dish. This was a Japanese style pizza!
Stick treats: comes in all forms from Yakitori to Aspara Bacon Yaki to a Vegetable barbeque in Ponzu (ranges from Php 145 to Php 195). All were delicious barbeque like dishes.
From the main dishes, what I loved the most was the Yakiniku Beef Rice (Php 245) and The Tofu Steak (Php 165). I love how the beef was so tender and slightly sweet. The Tofu Steak was fresh and cooked perfectly. The tofu was crispy on the outside and firm on the inside. the sauce was sweet soy sauce with vegetables. It was a melt-in-your-mouth dish that our friends and family enjoyed!
Here are other appetizing Japanese fusion dishes from Bubble Tea:
We also enjoyed amazing cakes from Bubble Tea.

We dined last night at bubble tea morato around 11pm, when we arrived there the store was jammed packed with lots of guests so we were forced to seat outside. One of their servers ( Chad ) didn’t aproached us maybe because we’re all just wearing boxers, plain white shirt and slippers, wen we finally got his attention we asked for a menu and if he can wipe the ashes on our table, he hand us the menu and put it on our table but he didn’t wiped the ashes and looks anoyed by us requesting for his service. At first we ignores it and thought that maybe he had a bad day, afterwards we requested to be transferred inside and a corteous girl staff assisted us. I ordered for a tofu steak but when it arrived it wasn’t hot and the sauce was too sour not the usual taste i know. So my girlfriend asked one girl staff to check it. After a while Chad appriached us with the tofu steak and said ” eh ganun po talaga lasa nyan” with a not so good tone as if he’s mad that we asked complain about the product. We felt a bit discreminated by the way he treated us, we’re a loyal guest of bubble tea and always enjoyed dining there but this experienced made us very dissapointed. I hope the management or owner will do something about this. Thank you for listening.
