Devotion to the Black Nazarene (A Pastoral Understanding)
At this holy time of the year, let us share this message from Msgr. Clemente Ignacio, the Parish Priest of Quiapo.
1. In my experience as a pastor, how do I look at the genuineness in the faith expressions of the devotees of the Black Nazarene?
2. What about the criticism that the devotion to the Nazareno is prone to abuse because it seems to border on idolatry?
3. What have been the abuses/excesses in the devotion? If there are, how do I, as a pastor, correct them? How could the theologians and future ministers be able to help?
4. What can I say about the judgment that the devotion to the Black Nazarene is a wrong devotion because the Nazareno is a symbol of despair and suffering and that we should use symbols that promotes hope for the Filipino?Continue reading

This year, for people born on the year of the Monkey, there are two stones that the Feng Shui Experts recommend. These are Citrine for Vitality and Aquamarine. I already bought the Citrine bracelet, but I did not buy the Aquamarine bracelet since it was way off my budget.Continue reading

Freeway x Lisa Macuja
I took Ballet lessons when I was 5 years old. I loved it, even though I was a fat kid. I remember getting ready for my car ride to Metro Dance and Arts Studio with my sister and yaya. At that time, ballet was quite an “in” thing for kids our age. I think it still is, although I haven’t been to any presentations or recitals recently. One of the ballet dancers I looked up to that time was Lisa Macuja (now an Elizalde). She was so graceful and loved so “light” every time she danced.Continue reading
