One of the best things about living in the Metro is that everything a person could ever need is within an arm’s reach, from shopping malls, to delicious restaurants and the hippest clubs. Sometimes, however, the metro just isn’t enough to contain the wanderlust that every person feels. While purchasing one of the many quality condominiums for sale in Cebu, or any other place is possible, it isn’t really necessary to move out of the Metro to have a taste of adventure. An affordable, out of town getaway is often more than enough for the employed to unwind and relax on their day off.

Here are some getaway trips that you can take outside of the Metro:

Beach – Beaches are one of the most sought after vacation spot. Beaches are almost always among the top 3 places people would like to go to for a retreat or a vacation and for good reason. Being at the beach symbolizes happiness and freedom. Gazing over at the never ending sea, while bathed in the warm light of the setting sun, going to the beach remains one of the most relaxing and fun ways for a person to unwind.

In the Philippines, beaches are a very big deal because the country is an island nation surrounded by many beautiful beaches. Most of the beaches are commercialized and they offer a multitude of exotic food available only in that region while some other stalls offer more familiar Manila food for people who prefer them.

There are many fun activities that people could partake in at the beach such as banana boating, parasailing, surfing, skim boarding and of course swimming. These activities are fun because they give people an adrenaline rush which is generally described as pleasurable as well as being a good source of staying fit.

A good example for a beach trip is of course, Boracay. The island is one of the most developed beaches in the Philippines and people flock to the island for vacations.

Hot Springs – One of the most therapeutic ways to unwind is by dipping into a hot spring. While they are by principle similar to Hot Tubs, what sets them apart is the fact that hot springs are natural and are often times not manmade. Hot springs are known to revitalize healthy cells in the body as well as their rejuvenating properties. The positive effects of hot springs are caused by the vitamins and minerals contained in the water. They are pleasurably warm, fun for outings and they are healthy to boot!

One of the best places to go to for a great Hot Spring experience is in Pansol, Laguna.

Tours – One of the best things about the Philippines is that it is a country with a lot of history. From Spanish colonization to the American Civil War era all the way to the final days of World War II, the Philippines is a country rich in sights and impact. From the island fortress Corregidor to Jose Rizal’s ancestral home, there are many places of distinct importance in the Philippines that visiting all of them may cost the average person a couple years of savings and time. These tours are worth it however because they signify the past of a country that is so rich in culture and love for its people.

As stated above, one of the best places to go to for a tour is the island fortress Corregidor. It is a place filled with history and significance to the country and merely visiting the former strategic fortress will educate you.

Ghost Hunting – As stated above, the Philippines is rich in culture and other historically significant events. Ghost hunting is more of a for-fun trip instead of a more educational one because it involves the thrill of looking for ghosts that may or may not even exist at all. Because most of the more significant areas in the Philippines date to even before the Spanish era, they are considered ancient and therefore they are haunted. While these claims may or may not be true at all, it is an undeniable fact that looking for the unknown is a thrill that is too good to pass up.

A good example is the famed “White House” in Baguio. Formally known as the “Laperal House”, it is said that the White House was used as a Japanese garrison during the days of World War II. The Laperal family was imprisoned alongside other prisoners of war and they were eventually brutally executed.

There are many more getaway trips that you can take outside of the metro but these are the most therapeutic among all of them. Try to find some time in the future to simply unwind, relax and take in the sights and sounds of this beautiful country.
