I like trying out new restaurants. I consider this as one of my adventures with my son. When I heard that a new burger joint will open in Manila, I got excited because I like American burgers so much because I know that they do only serve 100% pure meat.

I was fortunate to attend the pre-opening of Teddy’s Bigger Burgers in Greenbelt 3, Makati City last Tuesday. Teddy’s Bigger Burgers is Hawaii’s number 1 burger chain and the Greenbelt 3 branch is their first store in the Philippines. Other branches will open in the coming months (Eastwood and Shangri-La). Teddy’s Bigger Burgers is located at the third floor, near J.Co and Nanbantei of Tokyo.

Teddy’s Bigger Burgers was bought to the Philippines by SumoBurger Global Inc., whose restaurants include Sumo Sam and Akira, among others. This group is owned by the trio of actor-businessman Marvin Agustin, Raymund Magdaluyo and Ricky Laudico. During the pre-opening event, only Ricky Laudico was there to give a short talk to the press.

Teddy’s Bigger Burgers in the Philippines is the second international branch next to Japan so I felt proud of this announcement that the American owners have chosen Philippines to be their next international destination.

True to their name, Teddy’s Bigger Burgers really serve BIG BURGERS. Their smallest burger patty is 5 oz. equivalent to 1/3 pound patty of other burger joints. Next size is 7 oz. (Bigger) and 9 oz. (Biggest) from the original single patties, but they can have Monster Doubles (double patty sandwiches) which can go up to 10 oz, 14 oz, and 18 oz. Wow, you must have a big appetite to really finish eating one burger!

Here at Teddy’s Bigger Burgers, you have an option to customize your burger. They do also have their standard burgers but if you want to be adventurous, you can do so. They only have simple menu, but they added a local twist to the menu. They have added Tiki Wings and Chicken Tenders. They also added Loco Moco, a burger patty served on top of rice with gravy and fried egg.

The menu. On top are the Teddy’s Original Burgers, middle part if you want to be experimental, and the bottom are their extras (sides, specials, and drinks). You can request what should go together with your burger or you can just have ‘everything’ on it.

The patty is made up of 100% corn-fed US Black Angus ground chuck. Ground chuck is taken from the shoulder and neck portion of the cow. Teddy’s Bigger Burgers used 80% lean meat and 20% fat. They are hand-pattied daily, only done when you order. You can be assured of fresh patties when you eat at Teddy’s Bigger Burgers. Also all patties have no preservatives and are not injected with flavors. Burger patties are charbroiled, so the extra fat drips down while it is being cooked, so no need to worry about bad cholesterol. The burger patties are also cooked medium, not unless the customer requested how their burgers should be done.

Teddy’s Bigger Burgers also use potato bun, not the usual sesame burger bun. It took the Teddy’s Bigger Burgers local counterparts 30 trials before they get the ‘right’ bun and have it approved by the founders themselves.

Here are some of the burgers that you can order at Teddy’s Bigger Burgers.

Look how busy they are in the kitchen!

After the short program, we were now asked to line up in the counter to order Teddy’s Bigger Burgers. Our orders were delivered to our tables by calling out our transaction number written at our receipts. Considering that they are not a fast-food restaurant, we didn’t wait that long to receive our orders. So efficient!

Our orders! My son ordered Teddy’s Original Burger (5 oz.) with everything on it (lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles), added cheese (pepperjack), with onion rings as side dish (combo). I ordered Teri Burger with everything on it , with Swiss cheese and onion rings as side dish too (combo)

When I had my first bite, it was heavenly! You can really taste the beef, no extenders or artificial flavorings on it. My son also enjoyed his burger, he finished all of it! He even commended the founders, Ted Tsakiris and Rich Stula, that he loved the burgers so much.

Those burgers look so juicy! My hubby will love it here. He loves burgers and is forever complaining about how small the burgers are in the establishments we frequent. I gotta take him here soon! :)
