A recent survey by beadsbarn revealed that only twenty five percent of avid beaders actually follow beaded design instructions, exactly the way that they are laid out. The reason being is because most avid beaders like to add their personal styles to project instructions that they happen to run across. They use the instructions as a means of inspiration for their designs and then alter the instructions to fit their particular need or style.

Mix matching bead designs can help you create some incredible pieces of jewelry. However, when engaging in this practice it is important to know what to put into your designs and what you should leave out. Beginner beaders are not encouraged to sway off the bead by bead project designs, until they become comfortable with the different stitching patterns for creating beaded pieces of jewelry.

One way to mix and match different design elements to create your own unique design are to start by choosing a color palette for your jewelry. For example, if you have one color that is in abundance, and a few other colors that are not, choose the colored beads that have more beads to them. Or, you can always choose some of your favorite colors for a new design.

Pick something from the project design that you like and single out one component of the design. For example, if you want to create a charm bracelet that you seen in a magazine or online, pick the part of the design that drew you to wanting to create the jewelry design. Create that portion of the design specifically the way that it is laid out, and then incorporate some beads around the design that amplify your personal style.

Pick out a silhouette for your design. Silhouettes are generally the way that you want your final design to appear to whoever sees it. For example, if you like asymmetrical shapes, you can make your jewelry creation reflect this type of silhouette.
